No Time for That virtual tour being offered

- CONTRIBUTED

A unique initiative is dealing with bullying, mental health and LGBTQ+ visibility issues.

No Time for That (NTFT) is a registered Canadian charity based in Halifax that was founded by singer-songwriter and Atlantic Business Magazine’s 2020 Top 30 Under 30 winner Elsie Morden.

NTFT works with performers and motivational speakers across the country to educate and empower youth about bullying prevention, mental health awareness and LGBTQ+ visibility. To date, NTFT has delivered over 600 presentations that have directly impacted more than 150,000 students across Canada.

Normally, NTFT travels to bring their No Time for That tour to schools coast to coast, but in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and travel restrictions, NTFT has developed a virtual tour format to continue their impact throughout Canada. The No Time for That virtual tour is now available to all Canadian schools.

The virtual tour is easy to access, use and is offered free of charge to schools. There are educational materials, including a lesson plan, worksheets and resources, and then a 30-minute prerecorded presentation, followed by a live virtual 15 minute Q&A session with Morden. Through personal stories and original songs, Morden shares her experiences of bullying and mental health struggles. With a message of resilience and hope, she is able to make a positive impact and connect with youth during these hard times.

“It’s now more important than ever to remind students that they are not alone and that there is hope, and to be kind to others and ourselves, too,” says Morden. “We still have some openings this school year and would love to have more schools participate in the virtual tour. This is a time where students really need programs like this.”
