The St. Francis Xavier X-men of the Atlantic University Sport Hockey Conference will add major junior forward Brodi Stuart to their lineup in the fall.

Stuart, from Langley, B.C., played three seasons with the Kamloops Blazers in the Western Hockey League, scoring 45 goals and adding 70 assists in 204 regular-season games.

“He comes highly recommended from former coaches and contacts out west and is a great person with tremendous leadership skills and a very good two-way player,” says X-men head coach Brad Peddle. “He possesses a good skill-set to complement an outstanding work ethic and compete level.

“We feel Brodi will be a great fit with the identity of our team, and we look forward to seeing him in blue and white in the fall.”

The five-foot-11, 181pound left-winger was the 2020 Blazers unsung hero award winner. He was also honoured in 2019 with the Blazers most dedicated player award and inspirational leadership and ability award.

“I am super excited to come to St. F.X.,” says Stuart. “I have heard nothing but good things about the hockey program, the school, and town. I'm looking forward to the experience of going out east for the first time and at becoming an X-man.”

Stuart joins previously announced recruit, and fellow forward, Jacob Hudson, of Antigonish, as the X-men's first commitments for the 2021-22 season.

The X-women's soccer team has announced the addition of assistant coach

Sarah Taylor for the 2021 season.

The native of Conquerall Mills, Lunenburg County, played at Boise State University in Idaho where she captained her team in her final two seasons (2016 and 2017). Taylor was honoured as an All-mountain West second-team conference all-star in 2017, along with receiving accolades as a twotime Academic All-mountain West athlete, and a 2014 Mountain West Scholarathlete award winner.

“It is important for our Xwomen to have credible female leadership on our staff and Sarah Taylor brings that,” said X-women head coach Graham Kennedy. “Sarah has a playing pedigree that includes national team caps and NCAA playing experience; she understands the collegiate game. She also has a teaching and coaching background, so I know she will be a remarkable resource for our Xwomen.”

Taylor, a recent graduate of Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, where she served in an assistant coaching role capacity with their women's soccer team, is thrilled to be coming to Antigonish.

“I have heard amazing things about the athletes, coaching staff, professors and the university and I am looking forward to working with Graham Kennedy and this group of studentathletes to achieve our goal of a championship.”

As a player, Taylor spent time with the Canadian

U-20 team, competing at the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Papua, New Guinea. She was named Nova Scotia Female Athlete of the Year in 2017.
