St. F.X. team wins national awards
St. Francis Xavier University’s advancement team has been recognized for exceeding national industry standards.
The team won five medals – two gold and three silver – at the Canadian Council for the Advancement of
Education (CCAE) 2021 Prix d’excellence Awards, which recognizes top achievements in alumni affairs, communications, and fundraising amongst its 132 post-secondary institution members across Canada.
Gold was won for the Best Community Outreach Initiative called Neighbours Helping Neighbours – a program that facilitated community members and alumni to volunteer and support students during their two-week COVID-19 isolation period at the beginning of the fall and winter semesters.
St. F.X. also won gold for Best Fundraising Initiative for the Coady International Institute’s ‘Circle of Abundance.’ Hollywood actors and activists Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively contacted the Coady Institute at St.
F.X. last summer and offered their support for the Coady’s Indigenous Women’s leadership programming. The Coady leveraged Reynolds and Lively’s major gift to raise over $1 million to support three to five years of future programming for Indigenous women, the anchors of their communities.
St. F.X.’S silver medals came in the Best Media Relations Initiative (CJFX radio interviews with St. F.X. President Andy Hakin); Best Alumni Initiative (Alumni Chapter Challenge) and Best Fundraising Initiative (Point After Club) categories.
