Out and About is your new destination for community events in central Newfoundland. Space is reserved for non-profit groups and organizations. Please email listings to Krysta Carroll at outandaboutcen[email protected] Listings should be typed, 50 words or less, and include the community in which your event is being held. You may also include one photo, if you wish, but it cannot be a poster. Listings will run in print and online each week on Wednesdays. The deadline is Mondays the week prior to the edition of the paper in which your listing will run.

Grand Falls-Windsor - Exploits Valley Community Coalition in partnership with CMHA-NL, Empower NL, Status of Women Central, and VPSC will be hosting an education and awareness campaign at the fountain on High Street at noon asking to Recognize ASL-LSQ as a third language in Canada. One day in advance of the International Day of Sign Language. Please join us to help end audism in Canada.
Twillingate - Twillingate Museum is celebrating 45 years! Come celebrate with us on Saturday, Sept. 22 with an open house from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. There will be light refreshments from 2-4 p.m. and a great sale in our craft shop!
Grand Falls-Windsor – The Exploits Valley SPCA Looney Line is an opportunity, once a month, to show off some of the adoptable animals from the shelter and at the same time collect monetary donations for the shelter. To reduce stress on the animals, a different one gets brought out each hour. A table will be set up at the Exploits Valley Mall from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Stop by and drop a loonie or two in the jar, check out the animal, and said Hi. No donation is too big or too small.

Grand Falls-Windsor – St. Alban’s Anglican Church will be having a craft fair in support of St. Albans Sunday School program. The craft fair will take place from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at 13 Master’s Avenue.
Botwood - Pre-school story time program at the Botwood Kinsmen Public Library for children aged 3-5, every Wednesday at 10:30 am starting on Oct. 3. To register your child, drop by or call the library at 257-2091.
Grand Falls-Windsor - The seventh annual Grand Falls-Windsor Senior’s Fair will be taking place on Thursday, Oct. 4.
The Northcliff Drama Club is hosting a Spirits Survivor event at the Gordon Pinsent Centre for the Arts on Nov. 2, with doors opening at 7 p.m. and the event starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $30 per person plus a bottle of wine, alcohol or beer (costing $15 plus). There will be finger foods and live entertainment. Bring your bottle of spirits to the event. No homemade alcohol. The object of the game is to be the last name drawn. There will be immunity opportunities to keep you in the game. Must be 19 years of age.
Botwood - Jubilee Pentecostal Church is celebrating a 90th anniversary in 2018. A kick off and banner unveiling occurred in April, and celebrations continue with various activities throughout the year and a full weekend of celebration planned for Nov. 16-18 in Botwood with special guests, speakers, gospel concert and a Rock Memorial event on Saturday evening. Botwood - The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 5 Chase the Ace. Tickets are three for $5, and there’s a nightly 50/50 draw. Tickets sold 7-8:45 p.m. with the draw at 9 p.m. Grand Falls-Windsor – Pre-school story time program for children aged 3-5 starts 10:30 a.m. at the Harmsworth Public Library. Grand Falls-Windsor - The Diabetes Education Clinic offers a drop-in service 1-4 p.m. Have your blood sugar, blood pressure and weight checked. Bring your diabetes-related questions to the nurse and dietitian. No appointment necessary.

Gander - The Gander Seniors 50+ Club Inc. would like to advise its members and the general public that their regular card games will start on Thursday, Sept. 13, at 8 p.m. and their regular afternoon bingo will start on Thursday, Sept. 20, at 2 p.m. Both events are open to members as well as the general public.
