List­ings should be typed, 50 words or less, and in­clude the com­mu­nity in which your event is be­ing held. You may also in­clude one photo, if you wish, but it can­not be a poster. List­ings will run in print as space al­lows, as well as and on­line each week. The dead­line is Mon­days the week prior to the edi­tion of the paper in which your list­ing will run.



Ex­ploits Val­ley - Ex­ploits Abo­rig­i­nal Com­mu­nity Group (EACG) hosts Bernie’s Puktew every sec­ond Sun­day from 6-7:30 p.m. This is a youth group and is led by the in­ter­ests of the youth in the com­mu­nity. Ac­tiv­i­ties are cen­tered around the Mik’maq cul­ture and in­clude drum­ming, songs, talk­ing cir­cle, tra­di­tional crafts and cul­tural teach­ings. Any fam­ily in the com­mu­nity in­ter­ested in learn­ing more about the Mik’maq cul­ture or just want to cel­e­brate and hon­our th­ese tra­di­tions are wel­come. Next meet­ing is Oct. 28. Grand Falls-Wind­sor - The Learn­ing Dis­abil­i­ties As­so­ci­a­tion of New­found­land and Labrador will be at the Ex­ploits Com­mu­nity Cen­tre lo­cated at 30 Bar­tle Place from 10-11:30 a.m. for a pre­sen­ta­tion on “Un­der­stand­ing Learn­ing Dis­abil­i­ties.” This pre­sen­ta­tion is open to the pub­lic but we ask that you please call the cen­tre at 489-2141 and reg­is­ter as space is lim­ited.

La Scie – La Scie Pub­lic Li­brary Youth Paint Night for ages nine plus at 6:30 p.m. All pro­gram­ming is free of charge. Reg­is­tra­tion is re­quired due to lim­ited space.

HAL­LOWEEN WAKEATHON Har­bour Bre­ton – Har­bour Bre­ton Com­mu­nity Youth Net­work will be host­ing a free Hal­loween wakeathon for youth start­ing at mid­night un­til 7 a.m. All youth are wel­come, how­ever to par­tic­i­pate you will need to fill out a per­mis­sion slip avail­able from youth work­ers. Creepy movies, pizza, treat break­fast, Hal­loween games, camp­fire, ghost sto­ries and so much more.

Gan­der - The Gan­der and Area Food Bank will be hav­ing a food drive from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at area su­per­mar­kets. A list of reg­u­larly used items will be given out at the en­trances.

Badger - Please join the Men’s & Women’s Or­ga­ni­za­tion at the Par­ish Cen­tre for the fourth an­nual Craft Fair from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be lo­cal ven­dors at this event with lots of prod­ucts to choose from. All pro­ceeds from this event will be do­nated to the Men’s & Women’s Or­ga­ni­za­tion. Lunch will be avail­able at this event — cold plates, baked beans, soup, chilli, and moose burg­ers will be served.

Road Hawks Rid­ing Club fourth an­nual fundraiser with pro­ceeds go­ing to­wards help­ing put a smile on our se­niors’ faces this Christ­mas. Cold plates for sale for $8. Gan­der - Be­yond The Over­pass young artists present an evening of com­edy im­prov and mu­si­cal the­atre per­for­mances - Hal­loween themed! This is a fundraiser for Be­yond’s youth arts pro­gram­ming. Ad­mis­sion is by do­na­tion. The evening starts at

7 p.m. at St. Martin’s Hall on Air­port Boule­vard. There will also be a bake sale and silent auc­tion.

Fam­ily Re­source Centres in the Ex­ploits Val­ley vis­ited Mark’s Mar­ket Thurs­day, Oct. 4, to cel­e­brate Fam­ily Week. Emma Foss, who just turned three, was one of the chil­dren who at­tended from Bishop’s Falls. Chil­dren, fam­i­lies and care­givers who at­tended Fam­ily Mo­ments in Grand Falls-Wind­sor, An­chor in Bot­wood and Stay and Play in Bishop’s Falls vis­ited the pump­kin patch.
