Club Annual Fall Afternoon Tea and Bake Sale will be held 2 p.m. at the club building. Everyone welcome.
Out and About is your new destination for community events in central Newfoundland. Space is reserved for non-profit groups and organizations. Please email listings to Krysta Carroll at outandaboutcentral@ gmail.com.
Listings should be typed, 50 words or less, and include the community in which your event is being held. You may also include one photo, if you wish, but it cannot be a poster. Listings will run in print as space allows, as well as and online each week. The deadline is Mondays the week prior to the edition of the paper in which your listing will run.
VIEW CHRISTMAS BREAKFAST Grand Falls-Windsor – The “VIEW” (Valued Inspired Empowered Women) Christmas Breakfast will take place from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Windsor Pentecostal Church. Enjoy a relaxing morning with a full breakfast, vendors, guest speaker and prizes. Share your VIEW with other women who values your contributions in the home, work and in the community. POWWOW DANCE WORKSHOP Exploits Valley - Exploits Aboriginal Community Group (EACG) is hosting a free Powwow Dance Workshop at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall. All are welcome. Lunch and snacks provided. CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR
Gander – There will be a Christmas craft fair from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Gander Arts and Culture Centre.
Twillingate - The Twillingate Museum is closing for the season on Oct. 19, but will be open on Nov. 3 for its Christmas Sale from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. with sales on Christmas ornaments, books, etc. Light refreshments will be served in the afternoon, come out and enjoy our last shopping day for the season.
CALYPSO CRAFT AND BAKE SALE Lewisporte - Calypso Craft and Bake Sale at the Kin Centre, Lewisporte from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Admission includes soup, sandwiches and dessert. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Anyone wishing to donate goods can drop them off at Calypso on or before Nov. 5.
COMMUNITY CANNABIS AWARENESS SESSION
BOTWOOD - Community Cannabis Awareness Session presented by Angela Seaward, addictions counsellor with Central Health, at the Botwood Kinsmen Public Library at 7 p.m. This presentation will provide an overview of cannabis use for recreational and medical purposes, including information on what cannabis is, effects of cannabis, current uses of medical cannabis, and risks and harms associated with cannabis use. Registration is required for this session. Please call 257-2091 or drop into the library to register.
Gander - RCW Gander will hold a card game at 8 p.m. at the McCarthy Centre. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome.
CHRISTMAS IN THE CASA Grand Falls-Windsor - Christmas in the Casa Craft Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Windsor Pentecostal Church. There will be crafts, preserves, jewelry, knitted products, etc. There will also be a luncheon served. All proceeds go to the Possibilities House for Children in Linares, Mexico.
Botwood - The Royal Canadian Legion in Botwood will be hosting a dance to celebrate and remember the 100th Anniversary of the end of the First World War. Music by the local band Recall. They will be playing First World War songs from 8-9 p.m. followed by an evening of dancing. Tickets are available at the Legion in Botwood or at Imperial Variety, Botwood. Tickets are $10 each advance and $15 at the door. There will be prizes and snacks. Dress is casual. Come out and support your Legion and remember our Veterans.
REMEMBRANCE DAY PARADE AND CEREMONY
Botwood - Join members of the Royal Canadian Legion and many local service clubs and government representatives for the annual Remembrance Day Parade and Ceremonies at the Memorial Grounds and Cenotaph in Botwood. The event will commence at 10:50 a.m. with a moment of silence honouring our fallen at 11 a.m.
Grand Falls-Windsor - Connector NL Community Fair is a free event for the public to learn about volunteering and community activities. It takes place 6 p.m. at the Mount Peyton Resort and Conference Centre. We hope to have a variety of volunteer organizations, sports groups, and service clubs present so you can learn about all the opportunities in Grand Falls-Windsor. This event is free to attend and you’ll receive a door prize ballot just for attending. Rebecca’s Garlic Moose Melt and Noah’s Berry Delight were selected as winning recipes alongside 24 other young chefs recipes from across Canada.
