Out and About is your new des­ti­na­tion for com­mu­nity events in cen­tral New­found­land. Space is re­served for non-profit groups and or­ga­ni­za­tions. Please email list­ings to Krysta Car­roll at outand­about­cen­tral@ gmail.com.

List­ings should be typed, 50 words or less, and in­clude the com­mu­nity in which your event is be­ing held. You may also in­clude one photo, if you wish, but it can­not be a poster. List­ings will run in print as space al­lows, as well as and on­line each week. The dead­line is Mon­days the week prior to the edi­tion of the pa­per in which your list­ing will run.

VIEW CHRIST­MAS BREAK­FAST Grand Falls-Wind­sor – The “VIEW” (Val­ued In­spired Em­pow­ered Women) Christ­mas Break­fast will take place from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Wind­sor Pen­te­costal Church. En­joy a re­lax­ing morn­ing with a full break­fast, ven­dors, guest speaker and prizes. Share your VIEW with other women who val­ues your con­tri­bu­tions in the home, work and in the com­mu­nity. Twill­ingate - The Twill­ingate Mu­seum is clos­ing for the sea­son on Oct. 19, but will be open on Nov. 3 for its Christ­mas Sale from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. with sales on Christ­mas or­na­ments, books, etc. Light re­fresh­ments will be served in the af­ter­noon, come out and en­joy our last shop­ping day for the sea­son.

COM­MU­NITY CANNABIS AWARE­NESS SES­SION

BOTWOOD - Com­mu­nity Cannabis Aware­ness Ses­sion pre­sented by An­gela Seaward, ad­dic­tions coun­sel­lor with Cen­tral Health, at the Botwood Kins­men Pub­lic Li­brary at 7 p.m. This pre­sen­ta­tion will pro­vide an over­view of cannabis use for recre­ational and med­i­cal pur­poses, in­clud­ing in­for­ma­tion on what cannabis is, ef­fects of cannabis, cur­rent uses of med­i­cal cannabis, and risks and harms as­so­ci­ated with cannabis use. CHRIST­MAS IN THE CASA Grand Falls-Wind­sor - Christ­mas in the Casa Craft Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wind­sor Pen­te­costal Church. There will be crafts, pre­serves, jew­elry, knit­ted prod­ucts, etc. There will also be a lun­cheon served. All pro­ceeds go to the Pos­si­bil­i­ties House for Chil­dren in Linares, Mex­ico.

VIC­TORY BALL

Botwood - The Royal Cana­dian Le­gion in Botwood will be host­ing a dance to cel­e­brate and re­mem­ber the 100th An­niver­sary of the end of the First World War. Mu­sic by the lo­cal band Re­call. They will be play­ing First World War songs from 8-9 p.m. fol­lowed by an evening of danc­ing. Tick­ets are avail­able at the Le­gion in Botwood or at Im­pe­rial Va­ri­ety, Botwood. Tick­ets are $10 each ad­vance and $15 at the door. There will be prizes and snacks. Dress is ca­sual. Come out and sup­port your Le­gion and re­mem­ber our Veter­ans.

RE­MEM­BRANCE DAY PA­RADE AND CER­E­MONY

Botwood - Join mem­bers of the Royal Cana­dian Le­gion and many lo­cal ser­vice clubs and gov­ern­ment rep­re­sen­ta­tives for the an­nual Re­mem­brance Day Pa­rade and Cer­e­monies at the Me­mo­rial Grounds and Ceno­taph in Botwood. The event will com­mence at 10:50 a.m. with a mo­ment of si­lence hon­our­ing our fallen at 11 a.m.

COM­MU­NITY FAIR

Grand Falls-Wind­sor - Con­nec­tor NL Com­mu­nity Fair is a free event for the pub­lic to learn about vol­un­teer­ing and com­mu­nity ac­tiv­i­ties. It takes place 6 p.m. at the Mount Pey­ton Re­sort and Con­fer­ence Cen­tre. We hope to have a va­ri­ety of vol­un­teer or­ga­ni­za­tions, sports groups, and ser­vice clubs present so you can learn about all the op­por­tu­ni­ties in Grand Falls-Wind­sor. This event is free to at­tend and you’ll re­ceive a door prize bal­lot just for at­tend­ing.
