Out and About is your new des­ti­na­tion for com­mu­nity events in cen­tral New­found­land.

Space is re­served for non-profit groups and or­ga­ni­za­tions. Please email list­ings to Krysta Car­roll at outand­about­cen­[email protected] List­ings should be typed, 50 words or less, and in­clude the com­mu­nity in which your event is be­ing held. You may also in­clude one photo, if you wish, but it can­not be a poster. List­ings will run in print as space al­lows, as well as and on­line each week. The dead­line is 5 p.m. Mon­days the week prior to the edi­tion of the pa­per in which your list­ing will run.

The dead­line for the re­main­ing edi­tions in De­cem­ber is over, but please send along your list­ings for 2019.

DEC. 6 CHRIST­MAS CAROL SER­VICE

Grand Falls-Wind­sor - The Chil­dren’s Wish Foun­da­tion Christ­mas Carol Ser­vice will take place at St. Al­ban’s Angli­can Church. Doors open 6:30 p.m. Ad­mis­sion is $5.

A CHRIST­MAS CAROL

Lewis­porte – There will be a com­mu­nity pre­sen­ta­tion at St. Matthew’s United Church, Lewis­porte, at 7:30 p.m. in the form of a dra­matic read­ing, of the Charles Dick­ens clas­sic A Christ­mas Carol. This will in­volve a large cast, who will por­tray all the well-known char­ac­ters, from Ebenezer Scrooge to Bob Cratchit to Tiny Tim. The pre­sen­ta­tion will fea­ture the Sal­va­tion Army Band, var­i­ous mu­si­cians, choirs from the United and Angli­can churches, along with au­di­ence par­tic­i­pa­tion in the singing of sev­eral old-time Christ­mas car­ols. Dur­ing the per­for­mance, a free-will of­fer­ing will be taken, with pro­ceeds go­ing to the sup­port of the Lewis­porte and area food bank. Please con­sider mak­ing this a part of your Christ­mas, while sup­port­ing a very worth­while cause.

24 ME­MO­RIAL TREE LIGHT UP

Pil­ley’s Is­land – The Me­mo­rial Tree Light Up start­ing at 7:30 p.m. Ad­mis­sion is an item for the happy tree. Lots of en­ter­tain­ment re­fresh­ments to fol­low. For in­for­ma­tion to have bulbs in mem­ory of loved ones con­tact Nora Tiz­zard 652-3814 or Bj Os­mond 652-3544.

Pil­ley’s Is­land – The Pil­ley’s Is­land Rec Cen­tre ven­dor hol­i­day sale from 2-9 p.m. may be just the event to get shop­ping done. Can­teen ser­vices avail­able.

Grand Falls-Wind­sor - St. Joseph’s RCW will hold a card game at 8 p.m. at the McCarthy Cen­tre. Re­fresh­ments will be served and all are wel­come.

DEC. 8 NOR­RIS ARM SOUTH SANTA CLAUS PA­RADE

Nor­ris Arm South – The Nor­ris Arm South An­nual Santa Claus Pa­rade will start at 10 a.m., with the lineup start­ing at the town com­plex. Thanks to every­one who took part in pre­vi­ous years, we cer­tainly are look­ing for­ward to an­other great year. Hot dogs, hot choco­late and loot bags will be given out after the pa­rade back at the Boys and Girls Club. Santa will also visit, drop by to get your photo tak­ing with him.

DEC. 8 BOTWOOD COL­LE­GIATE’S CHRIST­MAS CRAFT FAIR

Botwood – Botwood Col­le­giate is host­ing a craft fair from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at 30 Fern­wood Drive. Ad­mis­sion is $3, and $2 for stu­dents. To book a ta­ble, call 257-2497.

BLOOD DONOR CLIN­ICS

Gan­der – Cana­dian Blood Ser­vices will be hold­ing a blood donor clinic at Fraser Road United Church on Tues­day, Dec. 11 from 5-8 p.m. and Wed­nes­day, Dec. 12 from 12-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. There are 199 ap­point­ments to fill. DEC. 12 SE­NIORS’ GAMES

Lewis­porte - Lewis­porte Me­mo­rial Pub­lic Li­brary will be host­ing its Se­niors’ Games at 2 p.m. with mu­sic by Glen Tet­ford. Scrab­ble, cards and re­fresh­ments. Bring your li­brary card or ask our li­brar­ian how to ob­tain one. We look for­ward to see­ing you.

DEC. 26 OLD YEAR ENDS WITH MU­SIC AND FRIENDS

Pil­ley’s Is­land – Old year ends with mu­sic a friends at the Pil­ley’s Is­land Rec Cen­tre start­ing at 7:30 p.m. Ad­mis­sion is $5 for adults and $4 for stu­dents. Lots of en­ter­tain­ment and our last event of the year.

DEC. 31 NEW YEAR’S DANCE

Botwood – The Royal Cana­dian Le­gion Branch 5 Botwood will be hold­ing a New Years Dance at 9:30 p.m. Mu­sic with the live band Re­call. Lim­ited tick­ets avail­able at the Botwood Le­gion for only $15 each. Come out and sup­port your lo­cal Le­gion and ring in the New Year at Botwood Le­gion. Party favours and a light lunch pro­vided.

ON­GO­ING SNOW AN­GELS

Grand Falls-Wind­sor - A com­mu­nity in­ter­est group that cre­ates aware­ness about se­niors and peo­ple with dis­abil­i­ties who can’t shovel their snow by en­cour­ag­ing peo­ple to nom­i­nate snow an­gels for draw prizes sup­ported by busi­nesses, com­mu­nity or­ga­ni­za­tions, and in­di­vid­u­als. @gfws­nowan­gel2018

Grand Falls-Wind­sor – T.U.F.F (To­gether Unit­ing Fam­i­lies For­ever) for Moms and Tots takes place Wed­nes­days from 9-11 a.m. at Evan­gel Pen­te­costal Church. This pro­gram, for chil­dren aged 0-5 in­cludes an ac­tiv­ity and snack. Botwood - Story time pro­gram at the Botwood Kins­men Pub­lic Li­brary for chil­dren aged 0-5, ev­ery Wed­nes­day at 10:30 a.m. To reg­is­ter your child, drop by or call the li­brary at 257-2091.
