Hockey Heroes to play

Hall of Fame de­fence­man Larry Mur­phy is sched­uled to play for the Pro Hockey Heroes at Chatham Memo­rial Arena on Sat­ur­day, Nov. 24, at 7:30 p.m.

They’ll face off against the Chatham-Kent Pro­fes­sional Fire Fighters As­so­ci­a­tion. Pro­ceeds go to the On­tario chap­ter of the Chil­dren’s Wish Foun­da­tion.

Mur­phy was in­ducted to the Hockey Hall of Fame af­ter win­ning four Stan­ley Cups – two apiece with the Pitts­burgh Pen­guins and Detroit Red Wings – dur­ing his 21 NHL sea­sons. He played for Toronto, Min­nesota, Wash­ing­ton and Los An­ge­les as well. For­mer 50-goal scor­ers John Ogrod­nick, Gary Lee­man and Bernie Ni­cholls are also slated to play for the Pro Hockey Heroes.

Ex-Red Wings en­forcer Dar­ren McCarty is on the ros­ter with Dar­ryl Shan­non, Craig Muni, Ric Nat­tress, Pat Rib­ble, Nik An­tropov, Jack Vali­quette and Wayne Cow­ley. Tick­ets cost $30 at the door. Fam­ily dis­counts are avail­able for ad­vance pur­chases.
