Raaymakers wins OHL award
Chatham’s Joseph Raaymakers of the London Knights is the Ontario Hockey League goaltender of the month for November.
Raaymakers was 8-0-0-0 with a 1.99 goals-against average, .936 save percentage and one shutout last month.
He allowed two or fewer goals in five of eight starts.
Raaymakers, 20, is 11-3-2-0 overall. He ranks fourth in the OHL in GAA (2.55) and save percentage (.921).
The five-year OHL veteran has won nine consecutive starts. The latest victory was his 90th career win.
Maroons’ DiCarlo gone
The Chatham Maroons reassigned rookie forward Josh DiCarlo to his hometown Amherstburg Admirals on Wednesday.
DiCarlo, 17, had two goals and three assists in 19 games.
He signed with the Maroons after playing last season with the Windsor Midget ‘AAA’ Jr. Spitfires.
The five-foot-five DiCarlo had 64 points in 45 games with the Jr. Spitfires in the regular season and post-season.
The Maroons will visit the Leamington Flyers at 7:10 p.m. Thursday in a clash for sole possession of second place in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Western Conference.
The Maroons (14-6-0-3) and Flyers (14-6-1-2) are tied for second with 31 points apiece, eight behind the London Nationals (195-0-1).
The Nationals will visit Chatham Memorial Arena at 7 p.m. Sunday. Blades rally past Sharks
WHEATLEY – The Blenheim Blades erupted for four unanswered goals late in the third period of an 8-5 comeback win over the Wheatley Omstead Sharks on Wednesday.
Keegan MacVoy had two goals and four assists for the Blades in front of 476 fans at Wheatley Area Arena. Will Tetzlaff and Kier Cumming also scored twice.
The Blades trailed 5-4 until Cumming scored at 12:49 of the third. Cameron Symons scored the winner 25 seconds later, Tetzlaff tallied at 17:07 and Drew Marlatt scored an empty-netter.
Drew Denomey had two goals for the Sharks, who led 2-1 after one period and 4-3 after two. Cole Butler, Braedon Caetano and Ernie Godden also scored.
Blades goalie Tyler Letchford made 34 saves. Catalin Morin made 47 for the Sharks.
The Blades (10-11-2-0) are one point behind the sixth-place Sharks (11-12-0-1) in the Provincial Junior Hockey League’s Stobbs Division. Lakers fall to Admirals
WALLACEBURG – Jeff Williams and Myles Fraser scored for the Wallaceburg Lakers in a 5-2 loss to the Amherstburg Admirals on Wednesday in the PJHL Stobbs Division.
Lakers goalie Patrick Timpany made 25 saves before 120 fans at Wallaceburg Memorial Arena. The Lakers fell to 0-21-0-2.
Cory Burns, Travis Campbell, Jacob Fields, Andrew Clark and Brock Beaudoin scored for the Admirals, who led 1-0 and 3-1 at the intermissions. Jared Ratko made 21 saves.
