Raay­mak­ers wins OHL award

Chatham’s Joseph Raay­mak­ers of the Lon­don Knights is the On­tario Hockey League goal­tender of the month for Novem­ber.

Raay­mak­ers was 8-0-0-0 with a 1.99 goals-against av­er­age, .936 save per­cent­age and one shutout last month.

He al­lowed two or fewer goals in five of eight starts.

Raay­mak­ers, 20, is 11-3-2-0 over­all. He ranks fourth in the OHL in GAA (2.55) and save per­cent­age (.921).

The five-year OHL vet­eran has won nine con­sec­u­tive starts. The lat­est vic­tory was his 90th ca­reer win.

Ma­roons’ DiCarlo gone

The Chatham Ma­roons re­as­signed rookie for­ward Josh DiCarlo to his home­town Amher­st­burg Ad­mi­rals on Wed­nes­day.

DiCarlo, 17, had two goals and three as­sists in 19 games.

He signed with the Ma­roons af­ter play­ing last sea­son with the Wind­sor Mid­get ‘AAA’ Jr. Spit­fires.

The five-foot-five DiCarlo had 64 points in 45 games with the Jr. Spit­fires in the reg­u­lar sea­son and post-sea­son.

The Ma­roons will visit the Leam­ing­ton Fly­ers at 7:10 p.m. Thurs­day in a clash for sole pos­ses­sion of sec­ond place in the Greater On­tario Ju­nior Hockey League’s West­ern Con­fer­ence.

The Ma­roons (14-6-0-3) and Fly­ers (14-6-1-2) are tied for sec­ond with 31 points apiece, eight be­hind the Lon­don Na­tion­als (195-0-1).

The Na­tion­als will visit Chatham Me­mo­rial Arena at 7 p.m. Sun­day. Blades rally past Sharks

WHEATLEY – The Blen­heim Blades erupted for four unan­swered goals late in the third pe­riod of an 8-5 come­back win over the Wheatley Om­stead Sharks on Wed­nes­day.

Kee­gan MacVoy had two goals and four as­sists for the Blades in front of 476 fans at Wheatley Area Arena. Will Tet­zlaff and Kier Cum­ming also scored twice.

The Blades trailed 5-4 un­til Cum­ming scored at 12:49 of the third. Cameron Sy­mons scored the win­ner 25 sec­onds later, Tet­zlaff tal­lied at 17:07 and Drew Mar­latt scored an empty-net­ter.

Drew Denomey had two goals for the Sharks, who led 2-1 af­ter one pe­riod and 4-3 af­ter two. Cole But­ler, Brae­don Cae­tano and Ernie God­den also scored.

Blades goalie Tyler Letch­ford made 34 saves. Catalin Morin made 47 for the Sharks.

The Blades (10-11-2-0) are one point be­hind the sixth-place Sharks (11-12-0-1) in the Provin­cial Ju­nior Hockey League’s Sto­bbs Di­vi­sion. Lak­ers fall to Ad­mi­rals

WAL­LACE­BURG – Jeff Wil­liams and Myles Fraser scored for the Wal­lace­burg Lak­ers in a 5-2 loss to the Amher­st­burg Ad­mi­rals on Wed­nes­day in the PJHL Sto­bbs Di­vi­sion.

Lak­ers goalie Patrick Tim­pany made 25 saves be­fore 120 fans at Wal­lace­burg Me­mo­rial Arena. The Lak­ers fell to 0-21-0-2.

Cory Burns, Travis Camp­bell, Ja­cob Fields, An­drew Clark and Brock Beau­doin scored for the Ad­mi­rals, who led 1-0 and 3-1 at the in­ter­mis­sions. Jared Ratko made 21 saves.
