Ad­mi­rals shut out Kings

DRES­DEN – Ben Larder had a 28-save shutout in the Amher­st­burg Ad­mi­rals’ 8-0 win over the Dres­den Kings on Fri­day in the PJHL Sto­bbs Divi­sion.

The third-place Ad­mi­rals (16-5-0-3) led 1-0 af­ter one pe­riod and 4-0 af­ter two in front of 225 fans at Lambton-Kent Me­mo­rial Arena. Rookie for­ward Josh DiCarlo had two as­sists in his Ad­mi­rals de­but af­ter be­ing re­as­signed by the Chatham Ma­roons.

Kings start­ing goalie Brett Brochu gave up four goals on 26 shots in two pe­ri­ods. Bran­don Allen al­lowed four more goals on 15 shots in the third.

Cory Burns scored two goals. Travis Camp­bell, Bro­den Me­loche, Josh Ta­lerico, Cole Welsh, Chris­tian McBride and An­drew Clark added sin­gles.

The sec­ond-place Kings (20-4-0-2) re­main one point be­hind the Es­sex 73’s (20-4-0-3).

The Kings kicked off a busy stretch in which they’ll play five games in eight days.

They’ll play Sun­day in Lakeshore and Tues­day in Es­sex, then host the Cana­di­ens at 8 p.m. Wed­nes­day and the Blen­heim Blades at 7:30 p.m. Fri­day.
