Admirals shut out Kings
DRESDEN – Ben Larder had a 28-save shutout in the Amherstburg Admirals’ 8-0 win over the Dresden Kings on Friday in the PJHL Stobbs Division.
The third-place Admirals (16-5-0-3) led 1-0 after one period and 4-0 after two in front of 225 fans at Lambton-Kent Memorial Arena. Rookie forward Josh DiCarlo had two assists in his Admirals debut after being reassigned by the Chatham Maroons.
Kings starting goalie Brett Brochu gave up four goals on 26 shots in two periods. Brandon Allen allowed four more goals on 15 shots in the third.
Cory Burns scored two goals. Travis Campbell, Broden Meloche, Josh Talerico, Cole Welsh, Christian McBride and Andrew Clark added singles.
The second-place Kings (20-4-0-2) remain one point behind the Essex 73’s (20-4-0-3).
The Kings kicked off a busy stretch in which they’ll play five games in eight days.
They’ll play Sunday in Lakeshore and Tuesday in Essex, then host the Canadiens at 8 p.m. Wednesday and the Blenheim Blades at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
