Death of two boys under investigation
Brampton parents questioned, charges pending
BRAMPTON, Ont. — The two boys found dead in a home here are believed to have been suffocated.
And calling it two cases of murder Peel Police have a father and mother in custody.
The boys, aged nine and 12, were found deceased in a home on Hiberton Crescent, in the Creditview and Sandalwood area.
Police were called to the home by a 911 call from inside the residence.
“The investigation into the circumstances of what transpired within the residence is ongoing by investigators from the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau,” said Peel Police in a release Thursday.
Neighbours said they were shocked by the incident. Police said there is no threat to public safety.
The parents were being questioned Thursday and, sources say, charges are pending.
Sources say it is believed the boys were suffocated but an autopsy will be needed to determine this.
“It’s very sad,” said a police source, indicating there’s much more to be done in this investigation.
Meanwhile, Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown was devastated when he heard the news.
“If this is indeed a case, domestic or familial related homicides it is unfathomable,” said a shaken Brown. “As a parent, I just can’t comprehend this. The crisis that led to this is yet unknown. But our whole community is grieving.”
Officials are heading to the boys’ school to help deal with grief, while probing the background of the deceased’s parents.
As of deadline police were trying to sort out what transpired. It is believed police have not been to the home before.
