RAYMOND, Truena

-

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Truena on December 13, 2019 just short of her 90th birthday, residing in Tideview Terrace, Digby. Mom was a member of Little River Baptist Church, was at peace with the Lord and we know she is now in a better place. Born in East Ferry, Digby Co. She was the oldest daughter of the late Harland and Georgia (Pyne) Theriault, and foster daughter of Mabel and Sidney Small. Mom was a kind, nurturing, and a gentle lady who loved to sing and laugh, many times because of her own quick wit. She was a hard worker and was well-known for her endless hours at her canteen feeding workers from our families fish processing plant and neighboring facilities in the 60’s and 70’s. She always saw the best in people, never criticized or complained about any situation she encountered. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Llewellyn Raymond. She is survived by sister, Beulah Griffin; her sons, Sidney (Bev), Sean (Lesa); daughter, Joy (Jim) Smith; grandchildren, Kienan, Sharlene, Krista, Jillian, Lyndi, and Logan; all the great-grandchildren and special nephews Robbie, Harley and Deane. The family appreciates the eight years of the great care Mom received at Tideview. They were her second family and the continuous "hello’s, how are you" and hugs were always the highlights of her walks. Thank you to Dr. Black for always being available and willing to answer our questions and offer advice. A very special thank you to Cheryl Long for her loving commitment to Mom. A memorial visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today, Monday December 16th, with funeral service at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 17th all from Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby. Rev. Donald Robertson and Rev. Jeff White officiating, followed by a private family burial. In lieu of flowers, donations in Truena’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or East Ferry Cemetery in care of Harold Theriault, 9461 Hwy. 217, Waterford, NS B0V 1A0. Rest easy Mom, we will be ok. Your amazing job as a mother and grandmother is now complete and we are forever grateful. You are amazing and will not be forgotten.
