ALEXANDER, William Bayne

-

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing at age 88 of William, in Bissett Court Seniors Home, Forest Hills Parkway on Chameau Crescent in Dartmouth. Born in Issac’s Harbour, he was a son of the late Edward and Inez Alexander. He was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia Martha (Weagle); sisters, Charlotte (Hensby), Vonnie; brother, Charlie (Butch), and daughter, Pam (Roache). Left to mourn his passing are his daughter, Julie, Dartmouth and sons, Roland, Halifax; Steven, Dartmouth; David, Dartmouth and Bill, Halifax. He’s also survived by his sisters, Edith (Mrs. Raymond Porter), Antigonish; Muriel (Mrs. James Henderson), Dartmouth; and his brother, Carmen, St. Catherine’s, Ont. Bill enjoyed a 25 year career as a Supply Officer in the RCAF with postings in Trenton, Ont., London, England, Edmonton, and Moncton. He then worked many years as a Manager at National Sea Products, Fourty Fathoms Division on Lower Water Street in Halifax, until his retirement. Those who knew Bill loved him for his huge spirit and wit. He formed a bond and friendship with everyone he came into contact with. Bill devoted many years as a district leader in the Boy Scouts movement in Moncton, bringing his sons Roland and Steve along for many years of fun and adventure and a lifetime of great memories. Many summers were devoted to camping and fishing and he absolutely loved visiting his parents and family in Goldsboro, Country Harbour and Goshen. He loved modelling and working on an amazing train collection. He’ll always be remembered for his hard work, devotion and love for his family. Every Christmas will be remembered for being simple but so special to each and every one of his children. Family was everything to William. He loved his children, and his grandchildren, Danny, Peter, Ryan, Sean, Jeanette and Melissa, and leaves a lasting legacy with his greatgrandchildren, Dylan, Quinn, Parker, Diandra and Yustin. A special thank you has to go out to the staff at Bissett Court (Seniors Home) for their tireless love and devotion. He always appreciated their efforts. And a special thank you to Julia Power for her making every day fun and enjoyable, with their endless projects. It will always be appreciated by Bill and the family. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-3 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth on Sunday, January 5, 2020. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson Canada.
