JORDAN (Julien), Marion Mary

-

Age 93. It is with much sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother on December 15, 2019 in Northwood in Halifax. Born to Daniel and Agnes Julien, Marion grew up in Porters Lake; one of 12 children. It was in Porters Lake that she taught in a one-room schoolhouse. She moved to Halifax, where she held a position as clerk at NSLC. After marrying and starting a family, she became a homemaker raising five children. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers enjoying participation in workshops and attending Pioneer dinners. Mom enjoyed spending time with her friends attending plays at Neptune and musical performances. Knitting was a pastime and she and her friends formed the "Knitwits" club to share their love of craft and kinship. In her later years, she enjoyed playing cards and working on crosswords and listening to music with her friends Marie and Val who helped care for and spend time with Marion. Mom shared a special bond with Marie and Val and her angels Cathy and Melissa at Northwood. You were all a Godsend. Mom lived for family and enjoyed many family gatherings. Nana’s grandchildren were a source of great pride. She had a great sense of humour and retained her fun-loving spirit, often reciting one of her favourite songs, "Show me the way to go home." which brought a smile to many who heard her. She found joy in the smallest of things like the sunshine on her face or a glass of wine with a friend or family member. She is survived by her children, John (Sue Fitzgerald), Patrick, Catherine, Richard (Leah Bacich) and Christine (Andrew) Burke; her beloved grandchildren, Nathan, Jordan, Aaron and Caroline Burke; Liam Jordan; and Danielle Cassivi, all of whom Nana cherished. She is also survived by her siblings, Theresa Doucette, Evangeline Julien, Geraldine (Luke) Mannette and Helen (Felix) Roma and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John Patrick Jordan and siblings, Florence, Kenneth, Anselm, Evelyn, Alfred, Olive and Thomas. Visitation will be Thursday, December 19th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 20th in Saint Theresa’s Church, 6351 North St., Halifax with reception to follow in the church hall. Family interment to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Sackville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, Northwood Foundation or charity of your choice.
