DAVIDSON, Hugh Allen

-

Age 69, husband of Bonnie Davidson (Scott), passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at his home in Halifax, surrounded in love by his family. He passed as he lived; with dignity, strength, so much love for us and with his sense of humour intact. Born June 8, 1951 in Ottawa, Ont., but grew up on the East Coast, he was a son of the late Murray Davidson and Elizabeth (Cobb) Davidson. Hugh attended Dalhousie University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1974. He became a chartered accountant, joining the firm of HR Doane & Co. in 1975 as a student and obtained his CA in 1978. He later joined Lyle Tilley Davidson Chartered Accounting firm in Halifax in 1984, became a partner in 1988 and obtained his CBV designation in 1997. Beloved not only by his family but also by his colleagues and clients. He made being an accountant cool. We used to jokingly refer to him as "the accountant to the stars" as he was very involved in the earlier years of the ECMA’S. He was an avid music lover, golfer, Trekkie, general lover of all sports (especially his Maple Leafs) and family man. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Bonnie; daughters, Lisa Law (Derek), Cole Harbour; Rebecca White ( Rod), Bermuda, and Charlotte Smith (Andrew), Dartmouth. He was Papa to his very loved grandchildren, Zoe, Matthew, Taylor, Jorgia, Noah and Chelsea. He is also survived by his sister, Charlotte Davidson Keen; his brother, Ian Davidson ( Naomi); and many nieces and nephews to whom he was known as "Uncle Hook". He loved the Beatles; in the words of John and Paul: "There are places I’ll remember all my life, though some have changed. Some forever, not for better some have gone, and some remain. All these places had their moments with lovers and friends, I still can recall. Some are dead and some are living - in my life, I’ve loved them all". There will be no service held at this time due to COVID-19 restrictions. In lieu of flowers, if you so choose, a donation can be made to the charity of your choosing. Love and special thank you to Dr. Kent Pottle and Dr. Lori Wood for your above and beyond care. Online condolences may be made by visiting: www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com Dartmouth Chapel.
