ELDRIDGE (Dunn), Addie Augusta

-

Age 95, passed away November 25, 2020. Born November 6, 1925, she was a daughter of Arthur and Louise (Langthorne) Dunn (of Central Argyle). Prior to Addie’s marriage to Victor, Addie worked at the Yarmouth Royal Store. She often spoke fondly of the friends and the experience of working there. Her faith was a fundamental part her life and she took great joy in teaching Sunday school at Yarmouth Zion Baptist Church. She volunteered in the Yarmouth Hospital gift shop for 27 years and a picture of her helping can still be seen there. She was a strong, independent person, confident of her abilities. A tireless worker, she was always willing to help others. Both Addie and Victor had a keen interest in politics at all levels. Family was everything to Addie and she devoted herself to husband, children and grandchildren. Addie took tremendous pleasure in celebrating all the special moments in life from Christmas to flying kites with children. Generosity was ingrained in her personality. Blessed with a sense of style and artistic ability, she saw great beauty in the swell of a wave, or the passing of a cloud. Addie’s life message was that family and occasions were to be celebrated and treasured. She was unique, greatly loved and will always be remembered. She is survived by children, Charles (Lori) Eldridge, Yarmouth; Stephanie Eldridge, Yarmouth; Sandra (David) Arsenault, Truro; grandchildren, Erinn (Derek) Colquhoun, Yarmouth; Matt Eldridge, Yarmouth; Heather Arsenault, Dartmouth; and Marc Arsenault, Halifax. She is survived by sister, Doris Webster, Yarmouth; and predeceased by her husband, Victor; brother, William (Eleanor) Dunn; sisters, Vi ( Jack) Cann, Edith Churchill, Kathleen (George) Macdonald and Joyce (Don) Eckel. By her wish, there will be no viewing. A private ceremony will be held. Service arrangements are made under the direction of Sweeney’s Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to IWK Health Centre or Yarmouth Fuel Bank. Many thanks are given to Dr. David Webster, the VON and the Palliative staff at Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
