-

On Tuesday, January 5, 2021, Frances Janet Audain, loving mother of two sons and grandmother of two granddaughters, passed away at age 82. Janet was born on September 1, 1938 in Charlottetown, P.E.I. to Alexander and Helen ( Farquharson) Matheson. She received her Master of Arts degree in 1962, followed by a Diploma in Clinical Psychology in 1965 from Dalhousie University. She practiced psychology for many years in Halifax before joining Vince to manage his busy medical practice. In June, 1968, she married Dr. Vincent Audain. They raised two sons, Colin and Brian. Janet had a passion for reading, bird watching, cooking and gardening. She could often be found curled up on a couch covered with a blanket and many, many books. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She was known for her quick wit, her peaceful and gentle manner, and her kind and compassionate spirit. According to her granddaughters "Nanny was smart and knew a lot about everything. She was fun, nice and a good listener." Janet was preceded in death by her father, Alexander; her mother, Helen; sister, Ellen; brother, James and her beloved husband, Vince. She is survived by her sons, Colin (Lori Mcdonald) and Brian (Patricia Power); granddaughters, Grace and Charlotte, and brothers, Thomas and Andrew. A private family funeral service will be held today, Saturday, January 9th, in the Chapel of Cruikshank’s Funeral Home on Windsor Street in Halifax. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in Janet’s memory, to the Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation or a charity of your choice.
