COLDWELL, Verna Jean

-

Age 85, of Gaspereau, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. Born in Gaspereau, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Margaret ( Allen) Atwell and was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Waldon Lee Coldwell. Mom worked at Mccluskey’s in Wolfville before marrying Dad and moving to Gaspereau. She made the Gaspereau community a part of her life working hard as a farmer’s wife, raising five children. She was a member of the Gaspereau Ladies Auxiliary, working tirelessly fundraising and supporting the church and community. She believed charity started at home and should be done anonymously. She loved when friends or family came to visit. We used to tease Mom that she was the local Tim Horton’s before Tim’s existed. Anyone who came to visit always had a cup of tea with homemade bread or sweets made in her magic kitchen. She will be missed by her children, Sherry (Phil) Hickey; Louise (Steven) Ward; Sally (Marshall) Dunbar; Dewayne ( Bev Elliot); Lionel ( Wanda Moors); grandsons, Jeremy (Dee) and Barclay Hickey, Aaron (Lara) and Brendan Ward, Liam and Drew Coldwell. She was a sister to Allison (Judy) Atwell, Gordon (Rose) Atwell and the late Avery (Edith) Atwell. A private graveside service will be held in Gaspereau Cemetery, Rev. Gary Manthorne officiating. Donations in memory may be made to Gaspereau United Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
