SWINEMAR, Marshall Grant "Pookie"

-

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Marshall "Pookie" Swinemar announces his passing at the age of 73 in South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater on January 10, 2021 with family by his side. Pookie (also known as "Pook" or "Little Dutchie"), was born on December 30, 1947 to the late Grant and Thelma Swinemar, formerly of Chester Basin, and was the second of six children. Pookie is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Cathyanne Swinemar (Demone), his wife of almost 50 years, and their children: sons, Adam (Greg), Toronto; Shane (Misha), New Germany; and daughter, Satrina (Ira Stevens), Chester. He may only have been 5’2 "ish", but Pookie made up for it with his big heart. He had a love of country music, played the guitar, spoons and the harmonica, and Pookie passed his love of singing and playing onto his children and grandchildren over the years. He loved playing cards and crib (often losing to Cathy and the grandkids!), having a good ol’ nip of black rum, and spending time at his son’s cottage on the water, kayaking, tubing (often falling off!), and by the fire. These are some of things we will remember about him and smile. He was also a member of the Local 73 Boilermakers Union. Pookie was the proud grandfather of his grandchildren, William, Simon, Calvin, Rylee, Mitchell, Owen, Max, Noah and Grace. No visitation or service at Pookie’s request. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York St., Bridgewater. Memorial donations can be made in Pookie’s name to the Palliative Care Program at South Shore Regional Hospital. The family would like to sincerely thank all the staff on Floor 4 of South Shore for their support and care provided during this difficult time, especially Nurse Amber who was with him until the end.
