KAISER (Knowlton), Barbara Fay

-

1958 - 2021, Lake Echo. "Your Wings were ready but our Hearts were not!" It is with extreme heartache that we announce the passing of our dear wife, sister and friend, Barb, after a short illness of cancer and heart disease Wednesday, February 24, 2021 in Dartmouth General Hospital. She left us with grace and dignity. Barb was youngest daughter of the late Gerald and Nina Knowlton (of Cole Harbour). She enjoyed a 22-year career with the Chronicle Herald as an Account Executive of Retail Advertising and Sales, where many long-lasting and cherished friendships were established. Barb and her husband, Deverne were wonderful hosts and very generously shared their beautiful cottage, Seldom Inn, at Indian Harbour Lake with their many friends and family. The bathroom guest book provided an entertaining snapshot of some of the questionable escapades that transpired at the lake. Barb was a hard- core animal lover with a special place in her heart for Golden Retrievers and forever missed Cadence and her Dixie Belle and her precious cocker spaniel, Brandie. Barb was an extrovert and a social butterfly. She was a wonderful and generous friend. She enjoyed people and was always interested in their stories. You never went anywhere with Barb that she wasn’t welcomed with open arms and a big old gabfest - old friends, new friends, past business contacts, restaurant staff, salon staff, retail staff. She left an impression! She loved to travel, enjoying several cruises, trips to visit friends and family in Alberta and Florida, and many happy staycations throughout Nova Scotia. She enjoyed good food, was an excellent cook and enjoyed dining at favourite restaurants with good friends Connie and Garry Brown. Road trips with her sisters were always special (and eventful!), as were the Thursday shopping trips with her close friend, Marg Crowell. Growing up, Barb and her best buddy, Sherry (Crease) Schultz were inseparable, always involved in some sort of shenanigans. Although Sherry moved away, their friendship remained strong. Barb had a strong appreciation of Nova Scotia art and a natural talent for decorating. Her beautiful home was a testament to both. Christmas was special to Barb and with her flair for design; she created an absolute winter wonderland. Barb is survived by her loving husband and her rock, Deverne of 40 years; brother, Brian (Anne); sisters, Gloria, Louise Roma (Dave, deceased), all of Cole Harbour; brothers- in- law, Dale ( Barb) Kaiser; Brian (Coreen) Kaiser, Kurt (Cindy) Kaiser; sisters-inlaw, Janice (Jerry) Harpell, Marjorie (Donnie) Nickerson; and cousins, nephews and nieces. In Barb’s new home, she will finally be pain free and able to rest in peace. She will be welcomed with open arms by her mom and dad, brother-in-law, Dave, along with parents-in-law, Eric and Jessie Kaiser, many other relatives, and her beloved pets. It will be a glorious reunion in a glorious place! Cremation has taken place . Following the Nova Scotia Health Protection Act Order(s) on COVID-19 restrictions, a family only graveside interment will take place Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. To view Barb’s livestreamed graveside service or to leave condolences please visit: www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com (Dartmouth Chapel). A celebration of Barb’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish to do so, donations in memory of Barb may be made to Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation, Rm 4046, 325 Pleasant St., Attn: 4th Fl. West, Cardiology/ Palliative Care, Att: Holly Henry, Dartmouth, NS B2Y 4G8. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Barb’s medical team (too numerous to mention all) for the exceptional care shown to Barb at her time of need. To Rita and the staff at Dartmouth General Hospital 4th Fl. West, you are God’s Angels on earth and we thank you. Dewey and Donna Waugh thank you for your amazing kindness and compassion at our time of need. The family would also like to thank their many friends who provided them with their prayers, love and comfort during Barb’s illness. God Bless you all. As Barb would always say, "Good Night Dear, I love you".
