PARKER, Kay

-

Of Bedford, August 4, 1939 - February 21, 2021. The family of Kay Parker is saddened to announce her passing, on February 21st at the age of 81, in Bedford Campus, Northwood Centre. Kay was born in Spry Harbour to the late Audrey and Hazen Cameron. Little sister of the late Una Richardson. Kay was the wife of the late Albert Parker. She is survived by her daughter, Faith (Bruce); son, Hazen (Nicole); stepdaughter, Debbie (Carl); grandchildren, Carrie, Dale, Tyler, Mitchell, Connor, Jayden and the late Jonathan; great-grandchildren, Breanna, Hailey, Emily, Brody and Peyton. Kay was also beloved by her nieces, Donna Allen and Beth Mongeon; as well as sister-in-law, Marie (Allan) Parker. Throughout much of her life Kay worked as a registered nurse, compassionately caring for young and old. She worked in hospitals and end- of-life care. She became an RN in the early 1960’s and returned to university nearly 20 years later to further her education. Kay was always there for her family, especially on the medical front - the go-to person for every ache and pain, cut, bruise and sprain. She provided reassuring advice and always comfort. In earlier years, she enjoyed both water and downhill skiing, figure skating, gymnastics, travel, crafting, writing and painting. She was a fantastic cook - which was only one of her several superpowers. She loved a great meal, especially a scrumptious lobster dinner, and found joy in the little things. She had an infectious laugh - inherited by her daughter, who also followed in her caregiver footsteps. Kay was courageous, strong, smart, passionate, devoted, nurturing and generous. Kay will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Every day without her will be empty. Her radiance has now transcended. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. Donations may be made to Diabetes Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A memorial service will be arranged at a later date.
