Age 85 of Halifax, passed away in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, on February 24, 2021. Born in Halifax, February 1, 1936, he was the only son of the late George and Barbara ( Stephenson) Dixon-Lennett. George lived in many parts of Canada including overseas in Newfoundla­nd during the Second World War as his father was stationed there with the Royal Canadian Navy. George followed in his father’s footsteps, joining the RCN in 1958, became a "medic" servicing on many ships and land bases as "The Doc", also worked on an offshore oil rig, with SIVACO Maritimes in Burnside, and a commission­aire with the Halifax Police Department until retiring in 2001. George is survived by his best friend and caregiver, Barbara Publicover, son Robert (Lynn), Ontario; grandchild­ren, Jeffrey, Melanie, Samantha, Alyssa, Tyler, Travis and their families; plus seven great-grandchild­ren. Predecease­d by his parents; his wife, Elke Marie; and his daughter, Barbara (David) Beaver (2016). He enjoyed being with family and friends, reading, TV, computer and travelling especially to Brisas Guardalava­ca, Cuba where many friends were made. A special thanks to Darlene, Wendy, Sheila and Pauline for all their help. Cremation has taken place. A family committal service will be held in St. John’s Cemetery’s Columbariu­m Thursday, March 4th at 2 p.m. Donations can be made to the Canadian Naval Memorial Trust (HMCS Sackville), Canadian Red Cross - Equipment Loan Department or charity of choice.
