BURNS, Lloyd Ronald

Age 89 of Lower Sackville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, February 28, 2021 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, after a short illness. Born in Conquerall Bank, he was a son of Allan and Mabel (Corkum) Burns. Dad was a printer by trade and worked at various locations such as the Pembroke Observer, Cape Breton Post, Halifax Herald and Maritime Tel & Tel. He spent his later years as a Commission­aire. His pastimes included bowling, gardening, keeping his cars gleaming and working outside. Dad enjoyed many happy times with his Bailey in-laws and all the extended family. He was an Elder at Knox United Church and was involved in many capacities as a member. He thoroughly enjoyed singing and will be remembered for his many years of dedication to the choir. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Jacqueline (Bailey); sons, Donald ( Sharon) and Jamie (Sue); grandchild­ren, Solveig, Paige, Ella and Ruby. Besides his parents, he was predecease­d by his son, Rodney; sister, Audrey Doering; stepmother, Ruth Burns; and stepsister, Jean Maughan. The family extends their sincere thanks to the First Responders and the many doctors and nurses in ICU of the Halifax Infirmary who were involved in providing care for Dad. Cremation has taken place. Due to COVID-19 restrictio­ns, a private celebratio­n of life will be held in Knox United Church, Sackville, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Knox United Church, Lower Sackville or a charity of your choice.
