KEDY (Sabean), Louisa "Betty"

(1946 - 2021) passed away early Saturday, February 27th in the VG Site, QEII after a long hard fight with complications from colitis. Betty’s roots were deeply grounded in Weymouth North, where she grew up as the fifth child of Hallet and Evelyn Sabean. After her marriage to Clyde Kedy, she and Clyde made their home in Tantallon where they raised their four children. Betty loved life. She was known as a very hard worker, vicious card player, bingo fanatic, risk taker and a great community worker. Her community spirit inspired her to organize fund raising events. For a time span, over 25 years she organized weekly card games which raised money for charitable groups. Many seniors throughout the Bay area have very fond memories of the "Betty Kedy Card" games where you played by Betty’s rules and no others. In the days when the nearest store in Tantallon was a distance away many people will remember shopping at Betty’s Canteen picking up convenient items and icecream. After the canteen venture, she worked as a custodian for the Halifax Regional School Board for over 25 years in many different schools in the area. Betty always enjoyed seniors. She was known to drive them to many types of appointments. She will be sadly missed by family and friends who will remember her acts of kindness and her determination to do things Betty’s way. She is survived by her children, Stanley Kedy (Wendi Mason), Sherry Kedy (Jon Miller), John Kedy (daughter Jenna) and Benji Kedy (Patrizia Aloisi); and beloved granddaughter, Jenna Kedy; brothers, Frank Sabean and Irving Sabean; sisters, Emily Rhyno and Susan Titus. She was predeceased by her parents; and her husband, Clyde Kedy; and sister, Jean White. A special thank you to Gladys, Jeannie and Andrew for taking care of Betty in these last few months. Cremation has taken place and due to the COVID pandemic a celebration of life will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
