- Sweenyfuneralhome.ca

It is with great sadness that the family of Bruce Zealotes Wentzell, 84 of Bridgewater, announce his passing on Sunday, July 11, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Life for Bruce started in Riverport and he remained a true diehard "Riverporter." He was a son of the late Zealotes and Jean (Zinck) Wentzell. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years, Glenda and sisters, Doris Baker and Isabel Creaser. Bruce started working at the age of 18 at the Bank of Montreal, 40 years later he retired in Bridgewater. He was transferred throughout Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. What Bruce valued the most were the friendships he developed with his colleagues and customers. Bruce was a man of many stories and loved a great time. His humour and kindhearted, loving ways made others feel like they were part of his family. As a grandfather of two granddaughters "Grampie" was a role model and proudly supported them through all of their accomplishments. Dear to his heart was his coffee meetings at Mcdonald's, spending time on Crooked Lake and travelling south for the winters. Bruce's greatest passion was sailing which included Marblehead, and Bermuda races to Halifax, chicken runs on the Lahave River and Chester Race Week. Bruce enjoyed a good time any hour of the day and will be remembered for two finger drinks at 4:10 always running against the expiration date of his Crown Royal bottle. Bruce is survived by his daughters, Debbie Wentzell, Yarmouth; Peggy (Brenton) Mosher, Hemford; grandchildren, Alana (Tristan) and Lori; brother, David (Cynthia) Wentzell, Sunnybrook; three nieces and two nephews. Cremation will be taken place under the direction of Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Health Services Foundation for Palliative Care Services at South Shore Regional Hospital. www.
