Salmon River man charged in hit and run committed to stand trial

TRURO — A Salmon River man charged after a hit and run accident involving injuries has been committed to stand trial, following a preliminary hearing in Truro provincial court on Thursday.

Adrian George Arthur Lively, 44, of East Prince Street, was charged following a two-vehicle collision on the same street that occurred last Aug. 20, which left two individuals in the other vehicle with significant injuries.

The accident involved a Volkswagen Golf that was rear-ended by a darkcoloured pickup truck. The RCMP said at the time the truck did not make any attempt to stop or render assistance to the occupants of the Volkswagen.

Lively is charged with failing to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm, two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm. He has pleaded not guilty to the untested charges and has elected to be tried in Nova Scotia Supreme Court by judge and jury.

A hearing to set a trial date has been set for Sept. 7.
