BARKHOUSE, B. Doreen

Age 87, of Windsor, Hants Co., passed away Thursday, July 15, 2021 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, with her daughter by her side. Born on September 18, 1933 in East Noel. She was the daughter of the late Burton and Harriett (Higgins) Densmore. She married Gilbert "Buddie" Barkhouse and had 57 wonderful years of marriage. Doreen taught school for 25 years and especially enjoyed working with primary students. She and Buddie enjoyed dancing, travelling, playing cards, and reading. Doreen was very talented in sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting and cross-stitch. Surviving are daughter, Natalie (Robert) Campbell, Windsor; grandchildren, Joel Reading, Ashley Reading, Jessica Mackeen; many nieces and nephews. Doreen was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert “Buddie” (2010); daughters, Suzanne "Lynn" Barkhouse (1973), Cynthia Barkhouse-mackeen (2014); sisters, Freda Hines and Kathleen Blinkhorn; brothers, Trueman, Blair, Donald and Claude. Arrangements are under the direction of Lindsay Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King St., Windsor, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0. The family wishes to thank the staff of Emergency, Units 200 and 500 at Hants Community Hospital. A special thank you to Dr. Cathryn Smith for her years of dedicated service. A private family service will be held in Lindsay Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King St., Windsor. A public interment will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 20th in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor (masks and social distancing required). Rev. Bill Gibson will officiate.
