MCNEIL, John Frederick "Jack"

June 24, 1935 - July 13, 2021. Born in Halifax, to James and Mary (Lapierre). Jack was predecease­d by his wife of over 50 years, Peggy (Lowther) in 2007. Jack was also predecease­d by his brothers, Ron Mcneil, Bob Mcneil, Frank Mcneil, Dugger Mcneil; and sisters, Marian Brown, Patsy Mcneil and Jean Mcewan. Jack is survived by his daughters, Patricia (Dennis Shute) and Joanne (Andy Lapins); and grandchild­ren, Adam Shute, Jordan and Renae Lapins, all of Calgary, Alta.; and numerous nieces and nephews from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario, and British Columbia. Jack completed all of his studies in Halifax graduating from St. Thomas Aquinas School and attending Saint Mary's College in the Commerce program. He was very proud of his ensuing 35 year career at CNR where he held management positions throughout the Maritimes, Montreal and Toronto where he later retired. It was always his joy and dream to retire to the place he loved Halifax, where he spent his last years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed his daily outings with his group at Ashburn Golf Club, he was also a big fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and Montreal Canadiens. Special thanks to Jack’s sister in-law Marjorie Mcmaster for keeping Jack replenishe­d with supplies and visits and the staff at Melville Lodge for the care over the past years. Cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held later this year.
