Lottery to supoort athletes establishe­d

HALIFAX - The Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic (CSCA) has partnered with the Canadian Olympic Foundation (COF) for the first-ever cross-country 50/ 50 lottery draw in support of athletes.

The initiative will support athletes as the profits gained will go back into the Provincial Sport Organizati­ons in Nova Scotia, said CSCA officials in a July 15 release.

CSCA President Ken Bagnell said the Team Canada 50/ 50 Draw is a unique way of supporting Nova Scotia athletes and they are thrilled to be part of the program that can make a real difference to sport in the province,

The goal of the lottery is to enhance the developmen­t of provincial-level athletes, coaches and technical leaders in Olympic and Paralympic sport discipline­s that are eligible to participat­e in the Canada Summer and Winter Games.

The Team Canada 50/ 50 launched on July 12 and tickets are available at tinyurl.com/4mw2ar5s for $10 a ticket. Players must be of the majority age and in their home province to play. (Atlantic Brief Desk)
