MURPHY, Mary Alice Carolyn "Carol"

Age 96, of Halifax, was born October 6, 1924, a daughter of Edward J. Murphy and Ethel Sullivan. She died on Sunday, July 4, 2021. She was educated at College Street School and the Convent of the Sacred Heart. After finishing high school, she took a business course at Maritime Business College and served as a private secretary for several years. She was predeceased by her older siblings: Catherine, Barbara (Bobby), Charlotte Linton (Peetie) and brother, Edward. Carol is survived by 11 nieces and nephews and a number of great-nieces and nephews. Carol was always very generous and had a remarkable sense of "fun". We all have a memory of costumes she would wear to celebrate any number of holidays. This quality made her a wonderful Girl Guide captain for many years at Canadian Martyrs’ Parish. She also loved to travel. Also we will certainly remember her for her series of beloved pets. She loved her time with family. Her niece Michelle Baker organized a special 95th birthday celebration - the last big family event for Carol - just before COVID-19 hit. The family would like to thank the staff at Northwood Manor for their attention over the years she spent on the 6th floor. And special gratitude goes to the staff on 10 Manor for their attentive care in the difficult last few weeks. A funeral mass will be held in Saint Thomas Aquinas Church at 11 a.m. on July 28th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made at: www.atlanticfu Halifax Chapel
