Age 61 of Lower Sackville, passed away on July 16, 2021 in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born September 4, 1959 in Belgium, Limburg, to Henri Knapen and Els Fouarge. Henri moved to Canada in 2005 to pursue his career in renewable energy. Henri was a pioneer in the industry. He installed the first wind turbine in Nova Scotia in 2002. Henri was a master electrical engineer, specializi­ng in electronic­s and wind turbines. He loved what he did, and he excelled in it. Henri was an avid traveller, he experience­d adventures all over the world throughout his career and thoroughly enjoyed travelling with his wife Jennifer for pleasure. He enjoyed his camping excursions, Kejimikuji­k annually, as well as hikes and all of his adventures around the globe. Notably Tanzania, Thailand, St. Lucia, and back to Belgium along with countless other destinatio­ns. Henri was no doubt a one in a million man. He loved nothing more then making others laugh and having a good laugh himself. He brought smiles and cheer to any crowd. When he loves, he loves well and unconditio­nally. Henri will be forever missed, but mostly forever loved, always forever and no matter what. Henri is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Mansfield Knapen; children, Maarten Knapen, Julie Knapen, Magalie Knapen, Ashley Mansfield, Bailey Mansfield (fur child); grandchild­ren, Carson Boswell, Weston Boswell, Jesper Vanelderen, Lina Knapen; father-in-law, Gordon Mansfield; mother-inlaw, Molly Mansfield; siblings, Pascal (Hilde), Marleen, Nadine (Steph), Brad (Cheri); brother-in-law, Bart. Predecease­d by his sister, Isabelle. Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialist­s, 71 Mcquade Lake Cres., Halifax.
