ROMO, Clifford William

-

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Clifford William Romo of Chezzetcook on Monday, July 19, 2021. Born in Halifax County, December 17, 1922, Clifford was the husband and soulmate of Laura Edna Romo (Conrod) for 81 years after meeting at St. Anselm’s church picnic in 1940. He was the beloved father to Carol Hynes (Romo) and Judy Hatch (Romo); Grampie and Papa Romo to Robert Dawn, Jackie Lowe (Dawn), Jennifer Soosaar (Hatch), Kimberly Ritchie (Hatch), Aaron Dawn, Rachel Dawn, Jacob Cameron, Abigail Soosaar and Taylor Lowe. He was the dearly loved fatherin-law and best friend to Robert Hatch and uncle to many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too many to count in his welllived 98 years. Previously passed by father, William Joseph "Bill" Romo and mother, Annie Romo (Bonang); sisters, Florence Pulsifer, Anna Redmond, Madeline Muise and Evelyn Jasperson. Clifford was a large presence in all of our lives, quick to say yes to every odd job that was handed to him, loved to be busy all the time and said that, “all in this life that was worth anything you had to work for”. Working since he was 12 years old skinning logs for a local small sawmill, he went on to be a carpenter and contractor for 80-plus years. He was a lifetime member of both the Chezzetcook Volunteer Fire Department and St. Anselm’s Church. His family would like to thank Joanne Mckee, for her compassion and encouragement and all the nurses at Dartmouth General Hospital on 4East for their care of Dad while he was in their unit for nine days. Visitation is Thursday, July 22nd in Rowlings Funeral Home, Musquodoboit Harbour from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Genevieve’s Catholic Church, East Chezzetcook on Friday, July 23rd at 11 a.m. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, those attending the Funeral Mass are asked to call or text (902)456-6867 to pre-register. Burial will immediately follow in St. Anselm’s Cemetery, West Chezzetcook. Much to our regret, due to COVID-19 we are unable to have a reception in our community hall.
