DEMONSTRATION HELD FOR SLAIN B.C. MAN

-

An elder offers tobacco to a Halifax regional police officer in front of Halifax police HQ on Tuesday. Protesters asked police to shut off their camera during the playing of the honour song, at the start of a demonstration for a slain B.C. man. The protesters were trying to bring attention to the death of Jared Lowndes, a man from the Wet’suwet’en Nation, who was shot multiple times after he was cornered by RCMP officers at a Tim Hortons parking lot in Campbell River on July 8. It is common practice for all cameras to stop recording during the playing of the honour song.
