HARRIS, Shawna Lee

Of Fort McMurray, Alta., passed peacefully away on July 5, 2021. She was 61 years old. A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Shawna cared deeply for her family, friends, and neighbours. Originally from Sheet Harbour, Shawna was a graduate of Nova Scotia Community College in Dartmouth who most recently enjoyed working with her colleagues at the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955. A dedicated mother, throughout the years Shawna worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for her own and others' children, volunteering her time with the Ecole Dickinsfield School Parent Association, Westwood Community High School Band Parent Association, Fort Mcmurray Minor Hockey and Youth Soccer Associations, as well as Scouts Canada and the Girl Guides of Canada. Shawna loved to cook and bake for her children and grandchildren, a passion inherited from her own grandmother, proudly hosting cheerful gatherings and holiday meals for her grateful family and friends. Shawna is survived by her husband, Len; her sons, Mathew and Gary (Casey); and two granddaughters. It was Shawna's wish that cremation take place and that in lieu of flowers, donations are to be made to Fort Mcmurray Community Cancer Centre or Ducks Unlimited Canada.
