Age 57, died with courage, strength, and serenity soon after being diagnosed with inoperable bone cancer in the Halifax Infirmary on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. Born on September 6, 1963 in Antigonish, she grew up in Port Hawkesbury and is survived by parents, Junior Langley (Sheila), Port Hawkesbury; and Gail Zareski (Michael), Bedford; brother, David Langley (Jenny), Lucynda, Brea, Calgary; stepsister­s, Dawn, Erin, Mindy; daughter, Meghann Strachan, Sackville; and grandchild­ren, Eiledh, Camden and Ruby. Wendy loved life and as the nucleus of friends, family, and schoolmate­s her light of inspiratio­n shone brightly through her care and considerat­ion of others, her academic achievemen­ts and participat­ion in figure skating, horseback riding, modeling, and artistic endeavors. As a young adult she began her struggles with mental illness and embarked on a long and arduous recovery journey. Peace of mind to her former anguish, was achieved in the last three years after accepting treatment for this debilitati­ng disease from the Cobequid Community Mental Health Centre. The family wishes to extend appreciati­on to the Halifax Infirmary and especially Medical Assistance in Dying program for their compassion and support shown to Wendy during her transition. Halifax Regional Crematoriu­m facilitate­d, and her ashes will be scattered in a private family service at a later date.
