CHARLTON, Constance Marie "Connie"

Age 88, of Middleton, formerly of North Williamsto­n, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021 in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, with loving family by her side. Born in North Williamsto­n on October 31, 1932, Connie was a daughter of the late George and Addie (Morehouse) White. In her younger years, Connie worked as a telephone operator, and later sold Avon. She was a wonderful cook, and worked for several years at the Lawrenceto­wn Fire Department Restaurant, where she did her part in maintainin­g their reputation for superb homemade pies, especially coconut cream. For 52 years, Connie was a devoted member of Lawrenceto­wn’s Valley Rose Rebekah Lodge No. 126, and competentl­y served in varied capacities, including Noble Grand. Skilled with her hands, Connie enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing, as well as crossstitc­h, ceramics, and jigsaw puzzles. She looked forward to attending jam sessions in the area, and always took pleasure in adding another set of salt and pepper shakers to her huge collection of over 400 pairs. Connie was quietly unassuming, with a heart full of love. She devoted her life to being a caring mother, grandmothe­r, and great-grandmothe­r. Together, she and her husband, Russell, shared that love with many children as foster parents for over 20 years. Connie always said that this was the greatest joy of her life. Above all else, she cherished the time she spent with her family. Connie will be dearly missed by her children, David (Sheena) Charlton, Valerie Hewitt, and Karen (Rickey) Beals; grandchild­ren, Ashley (Jason), Stephen, Marlee (Diego), Kristi (Doug), Travis (Michѐle), and Meghan (Billy); great-grandchild­ren, Mila, Ian, Madalynn, Mercer, and Mason; brother, Gordon (Eileen) White; sister-in-law, Mary White; several nieces and nephews. Also left to mourn is her long-time companion, Clarence Ryan. Besides her parents, Connie was predecease­d by her husband, Russell; sister, Ruth Hiltz; brothers, Donald and David White; brother-in-law, Clyde Hiltz; sister-in-law, Gladys White; son-in-law, Gregg Hewitt. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all medical and nursing staff who were involved in Connie’s care. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 4th, at 2 p.m. in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free 1-855-825-3448, Pastor Shelley Illsley-martin officiatin­g. Due to the pandemic restrictio­ns, attendance limited to invitation only; masking, social distancing, and hand sanitizing are required. Burial will follow in Nictaux Cemetery. For those unable to attend there will be a livestream of the service available at 1:50 p.m. ADT by selecting the ‘livestream’ option at the top of the funeral home’s website.
