Of Halifax passed away September 5, 2021 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Sambro, she was a daughter of the late Captain William S. and Sarah Jane (Smith) Henneberry. Alice grew up in Sambro, as the youngest of nine children, and was always Daddy’s little girl. She later ventured into the city, and began working at Simpsons-sears while staying with family. Eventually she would marry Bernard and settle in Halifax, where she hosted many card nights and holiday meals. Alice was an amazing cook, known for her beef stew, her lemon meringue pie, and delicious gravy. She was a hard worker who kept her house, garden, and lawn pristine, and also stayed in fashion, and had her hair cut or set every Wednesday. Once retired, she took on caring for Geoffrey, which brought a new light to her life. Alice loved her family, animals, especially all white cats, and spending weekends at the cottage in Bridgewate­r in the summers. She was predecease­d by her husband, Bernard Findley; siblings, Katherine (Milton) Purcell, Ruth (George) Perry, Phyllis (Earle) Horne, William A. (Valerie) Henneberry, Herbert (Jeanne) Henneberry, Mary (Alex) Caine, and George (Florence) Henneberry. She is survived by her sister, Bertha (late Carroll) Philpitt; adopted son, Geoffrey Ratchford (Catherine); as well as many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place under the care of Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. As per Alice’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. A graveside service will take place 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 14th in Oakridge Memorial Gardens, Middle Sackville in which all are welcome to attend.
