MINER (Farrell), Kathleen "Kathy"
May 19, 1954 – May 3, 2021. It is with great sadness that we let everyone know that Kathleen Miner, 66, passed away in St. Michaels Hospital in Toronto on May 3rd. Kathleen was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all. Kathleen was born in the Pier, Sydney and lived in Halifax, Saint John and Toronto before moving back to Nova Scotia to retire in Oyster Pond on the Eastern Shore. She graduated from Sydney Academy and Saint Mary’s University (BA ’97). Kathleen married her loving husband Rick Miner (1996) and the family had many happy holidays at Rick’s family home in Delaware. Kathleen’s career spanned 35 years in the Federal government including DFO, Public Service Commission, Health Canada, Employment and Immigration, Justice Canada and Human Resource Development Canada. She met many lifelong friends during that time who will miss her dearly. Kathleen was predeceased by her mother and father, Rhoda (Macdonald) and Hubert (Hubie) Farrell (Howe Street in Sydney); and by her daughter, Jennifer Mackenzie (Pete) in 2007. Her sons, Farrell (Michelle), Kier (Heather) and Colin (Ella) are living in London, UK, British Columbia, and Toronto respectively. Kathleen’s brothers, Stephen Farrell, Sydney (Anna); and Joseph Farrell, Halifax (Lisa); and younger sister, Ellen Farrell, Enfield (Paul Sentner) deeply mourn her passing. Her grandchildren, Sonny, Aidan, Bronte, Blake, and her infant granddaughter, Sofie, will miss their Nanny Kats greatly. A memorial service will take place in the Armdale Yacht Club at 75 Burgee Run off Purcells Cove Road, on November 13th from 1-3 p.m. Donations can be made to a Cancer Society of your choosing. For those from far away please send Rick your thoughts rick@minerandminer.ca and he will read them at the memorial.
