Age 68 of Halifax, died suddenly at home on Sunday September 5, 2021. Heather leaves behind a grieving family: husband, Steve Jensen; son, Robbie Macgregor (Tiina Johns); grandchild­ren Finlay and Clarke; daughter, Andrea Macgregor (Sascha Niewerth). Heather was predecease­d by husband, Peter Macgregor and parents Sheila and William Patterson. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Heather was raised in a military family that saw postings across Ontario. She completed her undergradu­ate education at the University of Western Ontario and then obtained her Masters of Social Work at Dalhousie University following which she settled in Halifax permanentl­y. Heather served her community for many years as a psychiatri­c social worker, beginning in the outpatient clinic setting at the Abbie Lane Hospital and towards the end of her career supporting older adults and their families with the seniors mental health program, until her retirement from Capital Health in 2017. Heather also had community interests, sitting on various boards and committees. She was active in delivering continuing education both within the institutio­n and province wide. She was extremely proud to be recognized in 2014 by the Department of Psychiatry, Dalhousie University for her ongoing role in the education program. Heather had a permanent smile and a ready laugh; she quickly connected to all she met. She valued family and friends and was happiest when sharing her home or cottage with those close to her. She loved outdoor activities; skiing at Wentworth, tennis at the Waegwoltic Club. In her retirement, she became an avid and adventurou­s traveller, sharing excursions with many close friends and creating great memories. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the newly created Heather Rea Humanitari­an Fund for Seniors in Need at the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia (https://www. mentalheal­thns.ca/memorial-donation) will help further the work so important to her. A Celebratio­n of Life Service, will be held on Wednesday September 15, 2021 at 11 am in J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax.
