Age 97, of Dartmouth passed away on the November 13, 2021 in Lewis Hall, Parklands at the Lakes. He was born in Cork Ireland on March 11, 1924. Vince is survived by his daughter, Joan Stibbard; son, Barry (Mary Catharine) Mcdonnell; and daughters-in-law, Sandy Mcdonnell and Pat Mcdonnell; grandchild­ren, Michelle (Cam) Beaupre, Cindy (Glen) Bossence, Derek Stibbard, Karen Ferguson, Ian Mcdonnell and Erin Mcdonnell; and twelve great-grandchild­ren. He was predecease­d by his wife of 67 years, Eileen; his parents, Frank and Winifred; brother, Frank; sister, Sylvia; sons, Robert and Thomas; and son-in-law, Gerry Stibbard. Vince grew up in Ireland and he was a proud veteran of the Second World War. He served as a radio officer in the British Merchant Marine. Vince, Eileen and their children moved to Canada from Cork, Ireland in 1957. He retired from the Federal Business Developmen­t Bank in 1984. Vince had an active lifestyle over the years and was an avid golfer, curler, sailor and lawn bowler. He had a passion for wine, writing numerous articles for wine magazines and teaching wine appreciati­on classes. The family would like to thank the staff at Lewis Hall for their exceptiona­l care of Vince. A special thanks goes to Stacy, Gillian and Jordan. Due to COVID-19 restrictio­ns, proof of vaccinatio­n/id and masks are required. A Funeral Mass, will be held at 11 a.m on Friday December 10th, in St. Peter's Church, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, 10 Maple Street Dartmouth, Father Brian Macmillan presiding. Due to COVID-19, no reception will be held. Interment in Oakridge Memorial Gardens, Lower Sackville, will take place following the Mass.
