The family of Elwood Earl Simpson, age 74, announces with sadness his passing in the Palliative Care Unit of the VG Site, QEII on October 19, 2021, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Elwood was born in St. Stephen, N.B. July 7, 1947, the eldest and much-loved son of Earl and Jennie (Scullin) Simpson of Waweig and Rollingdam, N.B. respective­ly, formerly of Newfoundla­nd, Nova Scotia and in later years Saint John, N.B. Elwood is survived by his wife of 29 years, Jacqueline (Baker) and son, James; sisters, Barbara Hurley, Saint John; Linda Eisenhauer, Halifax; brother, Wayne Simpson (Theresa), Maple Ridge, B.C.; nephews, Rex Hurley (Amanda), Nerepis, N.B.; Johnathan Simpson, Vernon, B.C.; and niece, Kimberley Hurley (Harley), Saint John, as well as several greatnephe­ws, great-nieces, and dear mother-in-law, Dorothy Baker and family. In addition to his parents, Elwood was predecease­d by his brothersin-law, Baxter Hurley, Harry Eisenhauer and Kevin Baker. Elwood retired from Melville Lodge, Halifax, following many years employment in the Maintenanc­e and Housekeepi­ng Department­s. He was a humble man with a mischievou­s sense of humor, an interest in history and current events, a loyal Toronto Maple Leafs fan and a music lover. He enjoyed cooking, and spending time at the trailer. He was a loving husband, a proud father and supportive brother who will be lovingly remembered and forever missed. In keeping with his wishes, there was no visitation or service. Following cremation, a private committal service was held in the columbariu­m of Mount Olivet Cemetery, Halifax.
