SIMPSON, Elwood Earl
The family of Elwood Earl Simpson, age 74, announces with sadness his passing in the Palliative Care Unit of the VG Site, QEII on October 19, 2021, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Elwood was born in St. Stephen, N.B. July 7, 1947, the eldest and much-loved son of Earl and Jennie (Scullin) Simpson of Waweig and Rollingdam, N.B. respectively, formerly of Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and in later years Saint John, N.B. Elwood is survived by his wife of 29 years, Jacqueline (Baker) and son, James; sisters, Barbara Hurley, Saint John; Linda Eisenhauer, Halifax; brother, Wayne Simpson (Theresa), Maple Ridge, B.C.; nephews, Rex Hurley (Amanda), Nerepis, N.B.; Johnathan Simpson, Vernon, B.C.; and niece, Kimberley Hurley (Harley), Saint John, as well as several greatnephews, great-nieces, and dear mother-in-law, Dorothy Baker and family. In addition to his parents, Elwood was predeceased by his brothersin-law, Baxter Hurley, Harry Eisenhauer and Kevin Baker. Elwood retired from Melville Lodge, Halifax, following many years employment in the Maintenance and Housekeeping Departments. He was a humble man with a mischievous sense of humor, an interest in history and current events, a loyal Toronto Maple Leafs fan and a music lover. He enjoyed cooking, and spending time at the trailer. He was a loving husband, a proud father and supportive brother who will be lovingly remembered and forever missed. In keeping with his wishes, there was no visitation or service. Following cremation, a private committal service was held in the columbarium of Mount Olivet Cemetery, Halifax.
