It saddens us to announce the passing of Simon Pierre Lefort on May 2, 2022, in the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp at the age of 86. He was born in Cheticamp on April 10, 1936. Simon Pierre was involved in many community organizati­ons. Two that were dear to him were the Co-operative Movement and the Knights of Columbus. Simon Pierre was a son of the late Geoffrey and the late Flavie (Aucoin) Lefort. Simon Pierre is survived by his children, Alphonse (Rosie), Annette, Francine (Gaëtan), Angèle, and Andréa (Dale); grandchild­ren, Natalie (Alain), André (Melanie), Jocelyne, Tabitha (Nile), and Arthur (Megan); great-grandchild­ren, Zavier, Audrey, Julien, Sébastien, Hunter, and Lachlan; brothers, Ludger (Pauline), and Armand (Margarita); sister-in-law, Mariejulie; step-brother, Clarence Aucoin; and stepsister­s, Anita Dixon, Pauline Lefort, and Eva Burke. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, Lucie Mae (Leblanc) Lefort; he was predecease­d by a son, André Pierre; brothers, Méderic, Louis-joseph, Albert, and Alphonse; stepsister, Margaret; and sister-inlaw, Germaine. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 6th, from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday, May 7th, from 9:3010:30 a.m. in St. Michael’s Parish Hall, Margaree. Funeral mass to follow at 11 a.m. in St. Michael’s Church, Margaree with Father Silvichan Dominic officiatin­g. Burial in the parish cemetery. Masks are requested by family. Family flowers only please. Donations in Simon Pierre’s memory may be made to St. Michael’s Parish Hall Fund, Margaree.
