Passed away peacefully in Saanich Peninsula Palliative Care Unit, Victoria, B.C., on her 48th birthday, following the sudden onset of a two month, brutal battle with metastatic cancer. Born in Antigonish in 1974, she is survived by her parents, Gerald and Betty (Fougere) Macdonald, Lower South River, and sister, Tracey (Chris) Mitchell, Scotland. She was predecease­d by paternal grandparen­ts, Dave and Mary Macdonald (Antigonish) and maternal grandparen­ts, Josephine and Ambrose Fougere (Sydney); many aunts and uncles. She is survived by aunts, Annette Parker (Jake), Antigonish; Frances Mackinnon, Sydney; Elizabeth Macdonald, West River; uncles, Bob Fougere, Halifax; Al (Darlene) Fougere, Powell River, B.C.; Gerard Fougere, Vancouver, B.C.; John D. Macdonald, West River; many cousins. After graduation from "the Regional" she received a diploma in Horticultu­ral Technology from College of the Rockies and was self employed in gardening/landscapin­g on Salt Spring Island and Victoria, B.C. So often she was heard to say how much she loved her life, her friends and her work. Having travelled to the southweste­rn states, Mexico, Bali and Hawaii, she preferred Salt Spring, her home for 25 years. She was hard working, kind, generous, fun-loving and a staunch friend to many. Special thanks to the Palliative Care staff at Saanich Hospital, to Mike Nelson for the fundraiser, Cynthia's special angel, Tracey Van De Weil, her lifelong friend who was with her through it all, organizers and attendees of the memorial that was held April 30th in Beaver Point Hall, Salt Spring Island. Also special thanks to Jack and Mary Macdonald of Antigonish. Cremation has taken place. Graveside service at the family plot, South River Cemetery, St. Andrew's will be held at a later date, to be announced.
