REDMOND, George Donald

-

It is with heavy hearts that the family of George Donald Redmond announce his passing at the age of 79 years peacefully from natural causes on April 18, 2022 in Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital. George was born August 13, 1943 in Dartmouth, a son of Clyde and Mabel. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are son, Patrick (Madonna); daughter-in-law, Isabelle Lemay; grandchildren, Ariel and Eva Redmond, Dylan and Jade Lemay Redmond; special friends, Howard and Joyce Griffin and a large circle of extended family and friends. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by wife, Mary; son, Peter, and brother, Gabriel. George remained in the Chezzetcook area after high school and was a well-known member of the community. He valued family and close friends above all else and they were his universe. He spent his working career as a meat cutter at the local IGA and then Baileys Meat Market. He was very giving and gave so much to those around him always. He enjoyed any activity his sons were involved in and even took up their passions including skiing and surfing after 50 years of age. He had a lifelong love for gardening and was an avid outdoorsman (fishing for brook trout and hunting).

There was never a trickle of water large or small he wouldn’t want to try for a brook trout in. He was loved by all who knew him and will be forever remembered as being a very kind and gentle man. Thank you to Dr. Lisa Bonang and all the staff at Twin Oaks for the wonderful care they provided to keep him comfortable in his final days. Specials thanks to caregiver/friend Irene who provided so much support in his last few days. Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life in the Head of Chezzetcook Fire Department Hall 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, May 7th. Interment to follow in St. Anselms Cemetery, West Chezzetcook. Arrangements and cremation entrusted to the care and direction of Rowling’s Funeral Home, Musquodoboit Harbour 902-889-2357.
