Age 85, of Canaan Heights, formerly of Halls Harbour and Morristown, all in Kings Co., passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, May 3, 2022. Born on January 24, 1937 in Berwick, Kings Co., he was a son of the late Hartley and Lalia (Nichols) Hutchinson. Leslie left Berwick to work in constructi­on in Kitimat, B.C. and then in Prince Rupert, B.C., where he married his wife, Jackie. Together they went to the Okanagan for a short time, returning home to the family farm in 1960 at which time it was incorporat­ed and became Mountain Crest Farm. He served as a Director and Chairman of the Nova Scotia Egg Marketing Board and also as Nova Scotia’s representa­tive on the National Board of the Canadian Egg Marketing Agency.

He was a Director of the Berwick Fruit Company and Scotian Gold Co-operative, a Past Director and Chairman of Nova Scotia Fruit Growers Associatio­n, and was a leader of Morristown Cubs and Scouts Troop. He served as Chairman of the Building Committee for the constructi­on of Morristown Baptist Church Parsonage, was a Past Deacon of Morristown Baptist Church and also served on the Board of the Directors of Kings Regional Rehabilita­tion Centre. He is survived by his wife, the former Jackie Budinich; son, Christophe­r (Anna), Lake Paul; daughters, Tracy (Alan) Joudrey, Winnipeg; Wendy (Marty) Tupper, Berwick; Brenda (Steve) Sanford, Berwick and Leanne (Bob) Dobrota, Kentville; 13 grandchild­ren; nine greatgrand­children; brother-inlaw, George Mattison, Jasper, Alta. He was predecease­d by sisters, Doris Macarthur and Pauline Mattison; sister-in-law, Janet Olafson; nephew, Douglas Olafson; great-grandson, Jeremy Hutchinson (in infancy); great-granddaugh­ter, Ellie Robar (in infancy). Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1–2:30 p.m. on Monday, May 9th in White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. A private family burial will take place in Morristown Cemetery. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice.
