A resident of Ridgetown, Ont., Lewis Kerr passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at the Chatham-kent Hospice. Lewis was the son of the late Henry & Blanche (Greeno) Kerr. He will be lovingly remembered always by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy (Benjamin). Father of the late Steven Kerr (Jan, 2022), Joy Kerr, Roy Kerr (Rose), Donna Roelofs (John), Cindy Martin (Tim), Kathy Carnie (Phil) and Tina Kerr. Grandfathe­r of 22 grandchild­ren; 36 greatgrand­children, three great great-grandchild­ren, and is predecease­d by a greatgrand­child. Predecease­d by his sister, Eva Kerr; sister-inlaw, Viola Benjamin; and brother-in-laws, James H Benjamin and Carl Benjamin; brother-in-law of Wesley Benjamin (Wendy) and Edith Hiltz (the late Rae). He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family. Lewis worked as a greenskeep­er and in the constructi­on industry, in Nilestown, Ont., Cedar Springs, Ont., and in Nova Scotia. He enjoyed camping, spending time on the golf course and was a member of the High Tide Drifters for over 35 years. Lewis was a longtime member of the West Brooklyn Baptist Church in West Brooklyn for many years. He loved to spend time tinkering on his cars and trucks. Lewis was a member of the Peace Corp, serving in Korea, and will be remembered as a dedicated Veteran. He will always be loved by his family. As per Lewis' wishes, cremation has taken place. A Graveside Service will take place on Wednesday, May 11th, in Botany Cemetery at 2 p.m. Those wishing to attend are asked to arrive at 1:50 p.m. Memorial donation may be made to the Chathamken­t Hospice Foundation.
