ROBERTS, Fred Weston

-

Age 90, passed away peacefully May 3, 2022, surrounded by family in Twin Oaks in Musquodoboit Harbour. Born in Hermitage Bay, Nfld., he was a son of Martha and Alexander Roberts. Fred is survived by his wife, Margaret (Mitchell) of 64 years. Fred will be greatly missed by his son, David and wife Kathy (Delaney)roberts; grandsons, Mitchell Roberts, Cory Roberts (Makenna Reid); greatgrandchildren, Zane and Easton Roberts. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Annie (Roberts)crewe, Maude Roberts and brother Robert (Bert) Roberts. Fred had a fulfilling professional career of 38 years with the City of Halifax as a NSLS, commencing in the field and finishing as Supervisor of Surveying and Engineering Administration with a lead role in advancing Gis/autocad for COH. Many lifetime friendships from that career were cherished and enjoyed and the family would like to extend to those friends our heartfelt thanks over the past few weeks for reaching out to him. The “Romeo Club” was sadly missed by Fred the past couple of years due to Covid . Although Fred and Margaret made their final home in Dartmouth, Fred called Oyster Pond his second home where they spent every weekend for much of their married life. Fred was a founding member and volunteer of the Oyster Pond Fire Department, warden to Emmanuel Church in Dartmouth and St. John’s Anglican Church, Oyster Pond. Genealogy and upholstery were just two hobbies which Fred enjoyed in his life and will leave lasting marks for years to come. Family and friends will remember him as an avid Habs fan, with a chainsaw in his hand and a man who loved camping and a good campfire! On behalf of the Roberts family thank you to Fred’s friends and neighbours who have provided support and caring and special thank you to Northwood Homecare, Twin Oaks, Continuing Care who went above and beyond. There will be an internment service with family/friends, along with a celebration of his life in Oyster Pond at yet to be determined time. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made on behalf of Fred Roberts to the Canadian Cancer Society and Heart and Stroke and Foundation.
