CHIASSON, Joseph Raymond (Ray)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Raymond Chiasson, (Ray) at the age of 79, on May 4, 2022 at home. Ray was born in New Waterford, on August 14, 1942. Ray graduated from St. Francis Xavier University where he met the love of his life, Mary (Mcgough) Chiasson. They married on September 28, 1963, and were blessed with five children. Ray will be forever
missed by Mary, and their children: daughters, Michele Chiasson- Suart (Glenn) of Calgary, Carole- Anne Chiasson (Aaron Smith) of Toronto; sons, Kevin Chiasson (Michelle Vernooy) of Vancouver, Raymond Chiasson (Jennifer) Yellowknife; and his sister
Theresa Madden. Proudly called Buddy by his grandchildren, Connor, Cole, Maddie, Rae Ellen, Lindsay, Rennie, Lyndon,
Raymond, Julia, Chase, and Kate, and loved by many nieces, and nephews. Ray was predeceased by his son, Joseph Patrick (Joe) Chiasson, his parents, Joseph and Lucy Chiasson, and his in-laws, Patrick and Nell Mcgough. Ray served his country honourably as a member of the RCAF, he was posted across Canada and the US where many great friends were made. Ray transferred into the reserves forces in 1990 with the Atlantic Cadet Association retiring in 2003. Ray was a natural athlete, quick-witted, loved a good laugh, and a weekly coffee with a great group of 5 men. Our Chiasson family will be forever thankful for the caretakers through “Home Instead”, the Northwood Adult Day Program , the compassionate care of Dr. Nag Sannidhanam, sister- inlaw Eleanor Hanlon and the special friendship of their neighbours the Andersons. Ray struggled with dementia in the last few years and thanks to Mary’s love and support he was able to remain at home. He loved his Mary, who was his comfort to the end. Our family is so blessed to have had him in our lives. A funeral celebrating the life of Ray will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 16th, at St. Clement Catholic Church, 16 Gaston Road, Dartmouth. Father Gerald David officiating. Online condolences may be sent to the Dartmouth Funeral Home: dartmouthfuneralhome.ca.
