HENLEY (Glawson), Donna Ethel
Of Sheet Harbour, age 71. While we are saddened she is gone, we are comforted she is reunited with her one true love - her husband Gary. Donna died peacefully, surrounded by love on May 10, 2022in Harbourview Lodge, her home for the past two and a half years. While Donna lived with Alzheimer’s and her memories slowly left her mind, we still always felt her love. Gary and Donna were an extraordinary couple, loved immensely by family. They had two children, Nicole (Glenn Coolen) and Trent (Sam Fredericks) and Donna was an exceptional "Nanny" to their three granddaughters Aileigh, Elaynah and Lily whom she adored. Donna had a great sense of humour, and was creative and talented in so many ways, from sewing clothes to cooking delicious meals. Over the years she developed a green thumb and received much pleasure caring for her lawn and gardens. Together she and Gary loved designing and building things from wood. They had a cabin cruiser Gary built 40 years ago and had years of enjoyment with their family and friends taking runs out the harbour or suppers while moored at Deep Cove. Donna worked jobs at Scotiabank, NSLC and Canada Post. Donna was the daughter of the late Carl and Lillian (Jackson) Glawson and was a sister to her late brother, Calvin (Valerie) Glawson. She was predeceased by her husband, Gary, in December. She is survived by all who adored her, members of the Glawson and Henley families – way too many to name - neighbours and friends. Nicky and Trent extend a heartfelt word of appreciation to the staff and residents of Harbourview Lodge and the ESMH. The people who live and work at Harbourview are truly exceptional, and have provided many cherished memories. The family is grateful for the outstanding care Donna received. Arrangements have been entrusted to DS Crowell and Son Funeral Home, Sheet Harbour. A joint visitation for Donna and Gary will be held Friday, June 17th from 7-9 p.m. in DS Crowell & Son Funeral Home. A joint celebration of life will be held in St. Peter’s Church in Sheet Harbour on Saturday, June 18th at 2 p.m. with Arch Bishop Marty Currie officiating. A reception will follow in the Lions Centre. Masks are respectfully requested at all events. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
