LITTLEWOOD, Ellen Elizabeth

-

Age 73, Port Royal, Annapolis Co. It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our sister on May 14, 2022 in her Port Royal home surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 7, 1948 in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Boyd and Phyllis (Riordan) Littlewood. After graduating from high school, Ellen took a medical records course in Digby and then moved to Halifax. She enrolled at Dalhousie University and graduated with a BA. She secured employment with the Royal Bank and after a few years, was recruited to establish Chargex (the forerunner of VISA) in many stores throughout the Atlantic provinces, setting up machines and troubleshooting problems. Later she worked as a loans officer and then transferred to the Royal Bank Data Centre in Halifax, where she finished her career with the bank. After retiring she returned to the family home in Port Royal, the place she loved. She soon became involved in many community organizations: she was a board member of the Annapolis Heritage Society, secretary of the Stoney Beach Cemetery Board, worked at the Ecumenical Fall Fair, was a church organist and was co-treasurer of Lower Granville United Baptist Church. She willingly volunteered her time and talents to support various charity events. She loved baking, reading and doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She is survived by sisters: Constance "Connie" (Orest) Kryschuk, Winnipeg; Anne Littlewood (Murray Carruthers), Digby; brother, John (Josette) Littlewood, Comeauville; nieces: Jennifer (Brent Miller) Kryschuk, Winnipeg; Jenna (Jonathan) Critchley, Toronto; and nephew, David (Jenna Glass) Kryschuk, Winnipeg. There will be a graveside service in Stoney Beach Cemetery at 2 p.m. Friday, May 20th with Rev. Deann Carter officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Palliative Care, Victorian Order of Nurses or charity of your choice. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the VON nurses and the Palliative Care Team, who provided outstanding and compassionate care for Ellen.
